Remember Ian Tomlinson

Daniel Obachike witnessed Ian Tomlinson's last moments

I watched the medics trying to revive him that day. They stripped him down to his blue Y-fronts and laid him on his back on the pavement. One medic lifted both his legs while the other pumped on his upper chest as a cameraman stood directly above him filming their attempts. After sometime it became apparent they were not making much progress and by 7:50 they had left him in the back of one of three ambulances parked in Cornhill.

Just like the British state’s use of Operation Kratos in the execution of Jean Charles de Menezes, the use of ‘kettling’ tactics by its riot squads will forever be synonymous with the name of Ian Tomlinson. (1962 -1st April 2009)

  1. Expect a whitewash. We are being “groomed” as a nation to accept state sponsored violence.
Wait until the lights start going out in the coming energy crisis. The government “boot boys” like it better in the dark. Thats why they kicked the protesters doors in before first light.
The best you can do is stay calm and don’t let them turn the fear screw on you. Peace is the path.
Rest in Peace Ian, you will not be forgotten.

  2. Wow. I was not as aware of all of this as maybe I should be. Police violence is an issue here as well. When my pockets look better I will be visiting amazon to purchase your book. Remarkable.

    • They are just following orders, its the commanders who are responsible stoking up the tension by showing them footage of civil unrest beforehand. This results in either their fear or the pack mentality overriding behaviour becoming of a policemen (Brutish).

  3. Did you notice how the BBC news was very careful to remind us of the clashes during the miners strike in the days leading up to the G20.
Do you think that they are in cahoots with the powers that be? To turn up the heat and get us in the mood?
Come on people, we need to wake up the serving police officers, that one day, when they are to old to be of use to the state, they will be civi’s like us again. Ask them, will they and their families be happy about being policed by fear and violence.
There is no path to peace, peace is the path.
